The lawsuit between the New York State Attorney General and Spam King Scott Richter has been settled, according to
press releases sent out by both today. Under the terms of the settlement, Richter must pay $50,000 in fees to the
NY AG, and must retain and provide to the Attorney General detailed records including customer information, purchase
records, copies of any advertisements they send, and of all complaints they receive. They are also prohibited
from using false information when registering domain names, Richter must advise the NY AG if there is any change in
their business struture, and all email must be CAN-SPAM compliant.
Of course, $50,000 is a drop in the bucket to the Spam King, whose spam-built worth has been estimated in the
millions.
