A joint project between Earthlink and Webroot has revealed a mind-bloggling number of incidences of spyware
installed on unsuspecting systems.
Since the first of the year, and scanning more than 3million Internet-connected computers (3,219,855, to be exact),
the audit has found nearly 500,000 instances of system monitoring spyware, and more than 500,000 instances of
trojans. In addition, they found more than 17,000,000 installations of adware and nearly 65,000,000 adware
cookies!
As ubiquitous and insidious as spyware propogation and installation is, one has to wonder why our own government has
not yet made use of it under the rubric of the fight against (name your favourite ill).
Or maybe they have.

1. I knew it was bad, but that is ridiculous! It's amazing how much snooping is going on.
