A report from Ipswitch indicates that spammers don't like the heat; spam has fallen 20% since March. Whether it's the heat from the prosecuters attempting to make good on their CAN-SPAM threats, or heat from the good ol' sun, is yet to be determined. Ipswitch isn't calling the war "won," though - they're worried about the rise in phishing, from 9% to 12.5% of all emails. Mortgage and loan spam is still popular, but it's falling as an overall percentage of spam.

3. Is it psychological phenomenon? Is it part of advertising laws?

4. I'm writing this as a response to the barrage of "best of weblogs" postings. It's sept. 17th but you won't allow comments on those postings.
Not to be a troll or anything but spam.weblogs.com is *supposed* to be about spam, spam fighting, anti-spam measures, etc.
Instead it seems to be blog spam all on its own for Weblogs in "best of the web." I used to read this site pretty regularly. Now I am going to remove it from my list of links. I similarly recommended that the site "the war on spam" stop linking to spam.weblogs.com for the same reason. They agree.
Why did this suddenly turn so lame? If I wanted a blog on the best of weblogs, I'd go to flat, ordinary weblogs.com.
I am extremely disappointed.

5. I don't like the fact that phishing scams are on the rise. It makes sense however, as most of them would pull in the larger fish if they work. Which is sad but true.

1. Thanks for that news pickup. It is much appreciated. Several sites ran the straight copy but no one added the interpretation which I always think is the most valuable part.
